Join the Movement for Total Wellness with the Chi Rho Tribe!
Our vision is to inspire a paradigm shift in how people perceive their bodies and their health. At our core, we believe that the nervous system holds the key to unlocking the body's full potential. Our vision is to empower people to listen to their nervous systems, to understand the signals their bodies are sending, and to make choices that support their innate healing abilities. We envision a world where individuals are deeply connected to their bodies and the wisdom they contain, where the pursuit of health is guided by an unwavering trust in the body's ability to heal itself. Through education, awareness, and a commitment to holistic care, we aim to shift the conversation around health and well-being, creating a world where everyone has the tools they need to thrive.
Meet Our Founder
Welcome to the Chi Rho Tribe! My name is John Rakowicz D.C. and I founded this community in 2022 with the dream of creating a healthier Highland. As a chiropractor, I provide care to help you achieve optimal health and wellness. But it doesn't stop there - we believe in a holistic approach to health, which includes promoting psychological, social, and physical well-being. Our community is constantly growing, and we are dedicated to connecting you with the highest-quality healthcare providers.
Taking small steps towards a healthier life can make a big difference. And once you start making progress, you'll have the tools to help others along the way. Our community is here to support you, but remember, your health is vital, and it’s up to you to be kind to yourself. While there's no obligation to give back, we hope you'll remember the meaningful moments you experience here and perhaps want to help facilitate those special moments for our new tribe members. Let's work together to achieve our health and wellness goals - I'm excited to have you as part of our tribe!
Remember to be kind to yourself.
I grew up in a family where chiropractic wasn’t just something you used when you were hurt — it was a way of life. Natural health, staying in tune with the body, keeping the nervous system clear… that was our normal. But I never imagined it would become my calling. Back then, I was all-in on becoming a professional baseball player.
Baseball was my whole identity. I trained hard — sometimes too hard — lifting heavy, pushing limits, doing everything I could to make it. And for a while, it worked… until my body started breaking down. The only thing that kept me in the game was chiropractic. At the time, I thought of it as my personal pit crew: patch me up, keep me moving, let me chase the dream.
But life had a different plan.
And the real turning point wasn’t an injury.
It was a phone call.
My mom told me she had cancer.
In that moment, baseball didn’t matter. Politics in the sport didn’t matter. I moved home to be with her, to get the time I knew I wouldn’t get back. And during that season, I watched chiropractic in a completely new way.
It didn’t cure her — and I never expected it to — but it gave her something profoundly meaningful: more life in her days. Less pain. More presence. More moments where she could just be with us instead of being consumed by what she was going through.
Watching that changed me.
It was the first time I realized that chiropractic isn’t about cracking backs or chasing pain. It’s about helping people live — really live — in the time they have.
That’s when I decided:
If I could do for even one person what that chiropractor did for my mom, I would commit my life to this work. I’d go through the schooling, the training, the long nights, the $400K price tag — all of it — without hesitation.
So I pushed through undergrad (almost lost my sanity), got into grad school, moved to California, and immersed myself fully in chiropractic. I studied every technique the school offered — and more. Not just on paper, but hands-on with real people, real conditions, real suffering. What I learned is that no single technique is the answer. Healing takes nuance. It takes curiosity. It takes listening — to people, to their stories, to their nervous systems.
My very first patient showed me exactly what this work can do.
Her life had been swallowed by vertigo, pain, and limitations. She’d tried chiropractic before with no results. So instead of using a “standard” approach, I dug deeper. Traced her symptoms back to a fall years before. Found the real neurological imbalance causing the cascade.
Within a month, her vertigo was gone.
Her headaches were gone.
Her life opened back up.
She came in talking about gardening again, being with her grandkids again. She even invited me to Christmas.
That’s when I knew:
I’m not here to get people out of pain.
I’m here to help them get back into life.
After working in high-volume wellness practices and trauma-focused corrective care clinics, I brought everything I learned back home to Michigan. And that’s how The Chi Rho Tribe Chiropractic was born.
Today, my practice is built on the belief that healing doesn’t stop at the adjustment. People need support, community, and spaces to reconnect with their bodies — especially after years of pain or disconnection.
So we host weekly workout events.
We bring people together for bigger community gatherings.
We help them practice movement, confidence, breath, and connection.
Because healing doesn’t happen alone — it happens in tribe.
I love serving Highland — my hometown — and watching people come back to themselves. Whether they’re rebuilding after trauma, looking to stay well, or just wanting to feel like themselves again, my mission is simple:
To give people the possibility of a life that feels open, connected, and fully lived.
Pain might be what brings someone through my doors.
But life — that’s what they leave with.
